Emma Preuschl
Emma Preuschl made her Paralympic Games debut in Beijing, China and shows no signs of slowing down. Preuschl, who has Erbs Palsy of the brachial plexus, a nerve injury from birth that compromises muscle function and the ability to grasp, extend, and reach with her left arm, was immune to the pressure of the international competition. Her team of Simona Chin, James Dean, Jesse Karmazin and Tracy Tackett claimed the silver medal in the legs, trunks and arms mixed four with coxswain.
Sports as always played an important role in Emma’s life. Since the little league fields of Irvington at age 8, Emma turned to sports as an outlet for her competitive spirit and therapeutic benefits. Emma’s first experience with rowing was with her aunt, Julia Evans in Madison, Wisc., in high school. As a freshman at Purdue, she sought out the Crew Club and never looked back; competing for 4-years with the Women’s team.
After earning a Bachelor of Science from Purdue University in dietetics and nutrition, fitness and health, she went on to complete her dietetic internship at Purdue University and is starting her professional career as a registered dietitian.
