Jeff Skiba
Jeff Skiba is a two-time defending world champion, a 2004 Paralympic silver medalist and the current Paralympic world record holder at 6'10-3/4" (2.10 meters) in the high jump. In early 2008, Skiba set a new unofficial men's high jump world record (men's F44 classification) and became the first amputee in history to clear the seven foot mark at the 2008 Asuza Pacific Invitational in Los Angeles, Calif.
Skiba continued his 2008 hot streak at the Paralympic Games, winning gold in the F44/F46 High Jump and claiming the silver in the men's P44 pentathlon. Skiba's gold medal was the first of his career.
Skiba's talent has garnered a lot of attention from the track and field world, and he was able to use it to make history in 2007 when he became the first Paralympic athlete to compete at the U.S. Indoor Track and Field National Championships.
Skiba is a member of the U.S. Paralympics Resident Athlete Program at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif., where he lives and trains full-time under the direction of Ambulatory Head Coach Joaquim Cruz. Before moving to Chula Vista, Skiba attended the University of Washington.
