U.S. Olympic Athletes

Jerome Avery

Jerome Avery has served as a full-time guide runner for U.S. Paralympics since 2004, training with athletes Josiah Jamison, Nelacey Porter and Elexis Gillette. In Beijing, Avery will compete with Jamison, running the 100 and 200m dashes – both events in which the duo dominate the competition.

An Olympic hopeful himself, Avery finished the 100m in the top 20 in the 2000 Track & Field Olympic Trials and top 15 in the 2004 Olympic Trials.

In high school, Avery was his high school’s (Lamoore High School) MVP all four years. He was also ranked fifth in the state of California in the 100m.

When not running, Avery enjoys watching movies, spending time with friends and shopping.
