Mary Stack has been a fixture on the U.S. National Team since 2000 and the Beijing Games marked her third appearance on the U.S. Paralympic Powerlifting Team.

Stack holds records for many able-bodied federations in the 198-pound weight class for the bench press. She has an American record for the Anti-Drug Athlete United Federation and a state record for the Michigan USA Powerlifting Federation. Stack also has a Michigan state record for the World Association for Benchers and Deadlifters. In December 2007, she broke the American  powerlifting record with a lift of 118 kg. The record was previously 112.5 kg. 

Stack currently works at the Ann Arbor Center for Independent Living as the Sports and Recreation Coordinator in Ann Arbor, Mich.

  • 2006:  Seventh place – IPC Powerlifting World Championships, Busan, Korea
  • 2006:  Personal best (117.5 kg) – U.S. Paralympics Powerlifting National Championships, Edmond, Okla.
  • 2005:  Received Michigan Sports Hall of Fame Courage Award
  • 2004:  Member of U.S. Paralympic Powerlifting Team
  • 2001:  Inducted into the Michigan Athletes with Disabilities Hall of Fame
  • 2000:  Member of U.S. Paralympic Powerlifting Team
