U.S. Olympic Athletes

Russell Wolfe

Russell Wolfe was introduced to the sport of archery at the 1999 National Veterans Wheelchair Games. He soon met fellow veteran and future Paralympic Games teammate Chuck Lear, who encouraged Wolfe to start competing.

Wolfe took Lear’s advice and earned a spot on the U.S. team for the first time in 2005. Wolfe has committed to being a full-time athlete and the dedication has paid off.  He made his Paralympic Games debut in Beijing in 2008 and then made the leap to the medal podium, winning bronze, at the 2009 International Paralympic Committee Archery World Championships. Wolfe is now focused on claiming a medal at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London.

Wolfe often spends time mentoring other veterans through the U.S. Olympic Committee’s Paralympic Ambassador Program and he also served as an archery coach for the Navy/Coast Guard team at the 2011 Warrior Games presented by Deloitte.
