U.S. Olympic Athletes

Taylor Chace

Taylor Chace first got started in sled hockey through a program called Northeast Passage at the University of New Hampshire. The opportunity to compete and gain experience in the sport led Chace to the 2006 Paralympic Winter Games in Torino, where he won a bronze medal with the U.S. team.

Two years later, Chace helped Team USA secure yet another bronze medal at the 2008 IPC Sledge Hockey World Championships in Marlborough, Mass.

Once junior Olympic level hockey player, Chace sustained his injury at the age 16 after sliding violently into the boards of a hockey rink in Cannington, Ontario, shattering the L-1 veterbra in his spinal cord. Although the accident left him partially paralyzed, after countless hours of physical therapy, Chace learned to walk - and play hockey - again.

Chace acknowledges that his family is his biggest influence. An avid sports fan, Chace enjoys attending as many sporting events as he can and hopes to coach hockey at a high level in the future.

Chace currently attends the University of New Hampshire where he hopes to graduate with a major in sports studies in 2010.
