Maureen McKinnon-Tucker entered the history books by becoming the first-ever female Paralympic gold medalist in the sport of sailing.

Six U.S. Paralympians have been nominated for 2009 ESPY Awards. Swimming's Jessica Long and Erin Popovich, goalball's Asya Miller and sailing's Maureen McKinnon-Tucker are nominated in the Best Female Athlete with a Disability category, while track & field athlete Jeremy Campbell and wheelchair rugby's Will Groulx are up for Best Male Athlete with a Disability.
