Paralympian Jeff Skiba Recognized as San Diego Hall of Champions' 2008 Challenged Athlete of the Year

U.S. Paralympian Jeff Skiba (Chula Vista, Calif./Sammamish, Wash.) is being recognized as the San Diego Hall of Champions' 2008 Challenged Athlete of the Year.

Skiba claims the award after winning a gold medal and setting a world record in the high jump (F44/46) at the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing, China.  In 2008, Skiba also became the first amputee to clear 7 feet in the high jump.  He jumped 7 feet 0 1/2 inches at the Asuza Pacific Invitational in Los Angeles.

Skiba will be honored at the Viejas Salute to the Champions dinner on February 18th.
