Wheelchair Curling World Championships in Vancouver

Team USA is in Vancouver competing at the 2009 World Wheelchair Curling Championship. The team captured a bronze medal at the same event last year.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - The 2010 U.S. Paralympic Wheelchair Curling Team is competing in this week's World Wheelchair Curling Championships and is off to a 2-3 start after the first two days of competition.  The tournament is being held at the Vancouver Olympic Centre, home of the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games wheelchair curling competition.

Team USA opened the tournament with a 6-3 loss to China; rebounded with a 10-6 victory over Scotland; then, dropped its third contest to Germany, 10-8. 

On Monday, the U.S. lost to Korea, 11-3, but came back with a big 6-3 victory over Canada, the defending Paralympic gold medalist. 

The U.S. is the defending world championships bronze medalist.

Round-robin play continues through Thursday, February 26 and medal round competition will be held on Saturday, February 28.

The 2010 U.S. Paralympic Wheelchair Curling Team is Patrick McDonald (Orangevale, Calif.), Jacqueline Kapinowski (Point Pleasant, N.J.), James Joseph (New Hartford, N.Y.), James Pierce (North Syracuse, N.Y.) and Augusto Perez (East Syracuse, N.Y.).
