U.S. grabs six medals to kick-off 2010 UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships

Oz Sanchez successfully defended his world championship title in the H4 time trial.

BAIE-COMEAU, Canada – The 2010 UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships kicked off with competition in the time trial event on Thursday and Team USA got off to a fast start by collecting six medals on day one.
 

Gold medals were won by Allison Jones (Colorado Springs, Colo.) in the C2 category, Megan Fisher (Missoula, Mont.) in the C4 category and Oz Sanchez (San Diego, Calif.) in the H4 category.

The lone silver medal went to Muffy Davis (Salt Lake City, Utah) in the H2 category. Davis is an accomplished Paralympic alpine skier, but she is competing in her first ever cycling world championships event.

Greta Neimanas (Chicago, Ill.) and Barb Buchan (Bend, Ore.) won bronze in the C4 and C2 categories, respectively.
