Team USA claims four road race medals at 2010 UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships

Oz Sanchez won gold in the men's H4 road race, his second gold medal of the competition.

BAIE-COMEAU, Canada –Team USA earned four medals on the first day of the road race competition at the 2010 UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships.  

Leading the way for the Americans were Oz Sanchez (San Diego, Calif.) and Megan Fisher (Missoula, Mont.) who won gold medals in the men’s H4 and women’s C4 categories.  These are the second gold medals for both Sanchez and Fisher, who earlier won gold in their time trial events.

Muffy Davis (Salt Lake City, Utah) picked up her second silver medal of the competition after placing second in the women’s H2 category road race.  Davis also won silver in her time trial event.

Also claiming a spot on the podium was Kelly Crowley (Redwood, Calif.), who won bronze in the women’s C5 road race.  

Four other U.S. athletes also delivered strong performances on Saturday.  Greta Neimanas (Chicago, Ill.) and Matt Updike (Denver, Colo.) were just outside the medals with fourth place finishes in the women’s C5 and men’s H2 categories.

Both Anthony Zahn (Riverside, Calif.) and Mike Farrell (Colorado Springs, Colo.) notched top-10 finishes as each claimed seventh place in the men’s C1 and C3 categories, respectively.
